How to Build a Successful Real Estate Marketing Plan

In theory, creating a marketing plan is not that hard. But without a clear strategy, your marketing efforts will most likely be inefficient and your return on investment might be disappointing. The process of creating your plan will help you answer some questions about your business and the message you are trying to send out. 1. SMART Goals

The first thing to do is to list out all your goals for this year. But not just any goals, SMART goals. It’s important for those to be specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time-based. Whether it’s related to lead generation, awareness, incorporating features such as chatbots on your socials or anything else, you have to make sure your goals are not generic or vague. All your goals should answer the question “Where do I want my business to be at the end of 2020?” When written, goals should also contain every component of a SMART goal. For example, We want to increase the number of generated leads by 20% over the next 6 months.

2. Target the right audience

This sounds generic, but businesses often time assume they know they are targeting the right people. It’s important to go over not only demographics (How old are they? What gender? Where do they live?) but also psychographics. What type of consumer are they? Is there something that pushes them to take action? What are their interest, hobbies, and opinions? Their behavior is just as important as their basic demographics.

3. Understand what YOU offer

You would be surprised to know how many people don’t know what their strengths and weaknesses are. A lot of real estate agents struggle with coming up with their “unique” value that separates themselves from other agents. Your “value” is who you are. Based on your personality, you’ll appeal to different people. Find what you can leverage. Is it your past experience? Your charismatic personality? Your detail-oriented nature? Then own it and use it to your advantage! The more you know about what you can offer, the more efficiently and precisely you can market it!

4. Select how you want to reach your audience

Your marketing plan should be comprehensive and needs to leverage the power of digital and social. That being said, it’s important to diversify without being all over the place. Depending on your budget and time, it might be more efficient to go all-in with 2 marketing types rather than do a little bit of everything. Knowing precisely who your audience consist of should influence and ease up your selection process.

5. Schedule everything

It’s important to make sure everything is planned ahead of time. Create a timeline for the first 3 months of everything that needs to be incorporated and done every week. For example: Share a blog post every Monday, post 4 times a week on Facebook/Instagram and send an email once a week. You can then see how things are going and adapt for the next quarter.

Extra Step: Execute!

Everybody can come up with new year’s resolutions. The most important part is to keep up with it. The same logic applies to your marketing plan. It’s one thing to map it out but you have to actually execute it if you want to get the word out about your business. You can do all the strategizing in the world but without action, it doesn’t mean a thing. Don’t spend too much time on little details. Jump in, take action and adapt throughout the year.
